Truffle Hunt & Tasting Experience
Terms & Conditions
TRUFFLE DOGS
Our friendly dogs play an essential role in our truffle hunting activities. Their safety and wellbeing are paramount. They will be off-lead (free roaming) during your visit to our farm and it is therefore your responsibility to ensure you are comfortable in their presence. Our dogs are trained for their highly specialised job but they are very comfortable around farm visitors and do enjoy affection and will tolerate selfies with you on the day. But when it is time for them to start working, we will ask you to give them the space to work safely and effectively.
WHAT TO EXPECT (AND WEAR)
As our truffles ripen during winter and spring, the weather during the hunting season can change and be unpredictable. We hunt rain, hail and shine so we recommend that you arrive prepared for your outdoor experience with flat, sturdy footwear as our farm is located on the side of a hill with a gentle incline, and the land is uneven and often slippery during wet weather. For biosecurity of our truffle farm, you will be asked to disinfect your footwear in a bleach solution on site before the truffle hunt. For these reasons, we highly recommend a good pair of gumboots. While we do have umbrellas onsite, you are welcome to bring your own but we recommend bringing a warm, wind and rain resistant jacket. It is your responsibility to dress appropriately for the weather and we want you to be comfortable throughout your experience.
The tasting component of your experience will take place indoors where you will have a chance to warm up after the hunt. Our indoor seating configuration consists of four armchairs at coffee tables, and four bar stools seated at a bar. We give you the chance to select your seating at the time of booking to ensure you are comfortable on the day.
BOOKING CANCELLATION POLICY
We are a small family business offering a limited number of truffle hunt experiences each truffle season. We therefore ask you to notify us of any cancellation at least 4 days prior to your scheduled booking time. Unfortunately, if you fail to provide cancellation notice 4 days prior to your booking, you will not be eligible for a full refund, and 50% of the booking fee will be kept as a deposit to cover catering and staff. We appreciate your understanding. We hunt rain, hail and shine so we do not accept booking cancellations due to weather conditions (except when catastrophic conditions are forecast – in which case we will contact you).
FARM GATE SHOP
At the conclusion of your booked experience, you will have the opportunity to purchase fresh truffles (priced by weight), value-added truffle products made onsite, and an array of other products. Our farm gate shop is open to the general public at set times outlined on our website but is open exclusively to our experience guests during the time of your booking.
TRUFFLE DISCLAIMER
Our bookings are available only during our peak truffle season from June to August and during this time we have ripe truffles ready for harvesting. Truffles are, however, one of the only crops that cannot be seen until they are harvested. We rely on the highly trained noses of our dogs to identify them under the soil and truffles are enjoyed by pest insects as much as we enjoy them. We therefore cannot guarantee how many truffles we will find during your visit, or the condition of them. We will, however, do our best to ensure that you have the opportunity to dig up a truffle but this is something that we just cannot guarantee. We will, however, ensure the availability of truffle for the tasting component of your visit. Please be mindful of this with your booking and with your expectations on the day of your experience.
HOW TO FIND US
65B Junction Road, Littlehampton SA 5250
We are located approximately 34 km from the Adelaide CBD via the South Eastern Freeway. After taking the Mount Barker exit, you can follow the signage to Littlehampton, before taking a left at the Littlehampton roundabout (at Littlehampton Fruit & Veg Market/Great Eastern Hotel). We are located on the left, just after the 80 km sign.
If you are using Google Maps or a GPS, ensure the address doesn’t default to Balhannah – this happens more often than not!
If you get lost on the day, you can call us on: 0424 831 381.
The journey up the freeway can vary in duration depending on traffic and weather conditions. Please plan ahead to ensure you arrive on time, safely. Your Truffle Hunt & Tasting Experience will commence promptly and we do not want to keep other guests waiting for delayed travellers.
ONSITE PARKING & SIGNAGE
We have a small number of designated parking spaces on site for farm guests, please ensure you observe all signage during your visit to ensure everyone has a safe, enjoyable time.
We thank you for agreeing to these Terms & Conditions and look forward to welcoming you to our farm.
